Loose Pockets
A little History of the Band

Loose Pockets is a 6 piece band from Chillicothe, Ohio that started with Mike Boyle doing a solo acoustic show up at The Dock

at Water sometime in 98 or 99. Shortly after getting it rolling, he hooked up with Donn Hill (guitar and vocals) and Barry Barnes

(mandolin, banjo and vocals). A little later John K. Victor started dropping in (harp), and sometime in late 2000, Mark Sentieri

came in on bass and vocals. We banged it out like this every week for 4 or 5 years and set a standard early on by bringing

local musician friends up for a couple of songs whenever it felt right. In 04, Donn hit the road to Florida and John  got busy

with his own business, so Mike, Barry and Mark held the flag alone for four or five years. It was a great gig – next to nothing

money, but good music and a great time by three old heads doing what we love to do more than anything else. In late 08 Steve

Hummel joined the band and introduced some sweet honky tonk sounds with his B-bender telecaster. A few weeks later, Barry’s

good buddy John David Call of Pure Prairie League fame came and sat in with his pedal steel. When drummer Sam Roma

joined in early 09, Loose Pockets was born. Now this is a band! Originals, old country, alt country, bluegrass, roots,

Americana, blues, a little swing, a few standards, big band, whatever. Really doesn’t matter so long as the music is real and

means something to somebody. We do play out, but the Dock is our home. Has been every week for about 10 years. Drop in

some Tuesday night. We’ll be there making some good music and having a blast.
